In collaboration with the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Cometrics reviewed all public facing communications from the 50 largest US-headquartered corporations, by revenue, from January 01, 2021 to December 31, 2023. The results were summarized and can be seen by visiting the news release page. As a part of the wider release, we are sharing a subset of our research below.
Cometrics tracked "owned" corporate communications in annual reports, sustainability documentations, securities filings, social chatter, paid advertising, podcasts, news releases, Executive and Board communications and found some surprising results. During the research period, Cometrics analyzed the public facing communications from our survey set and compared them to a pre-established set of 90 themes relating to the Environment, Society and Governance. The communications content analyzed included public records from securities filings, analyst calls, websites, ESG documentation, social media chatter, communications by Executives, podcasts, paid advertising and news releases.
